Leap Day Post!

Day 59: One person you can tell everything to.

Surely there is no other person in this whole wide world whom I can tell all my thoughts, opinions, and ideas.
She's my mom! :)

Happiness is the Lord

Day 57: What is your definition of happiness?

Happiness is to know the Saviour,
Living a life within His favour,
Having a change in my behaviour,
Happiness is the Lord.
Happiness is a new creation,
Jesus and me in close relation,
Having a part in His salvation,
Happiness is the Lord.
Real joy is mine,
No matter if the teardrops start,
I've found a secret,
It's Jesus in my heart.
Happiness is to be forgiven,
Living a life that's worth the livin',
Taking a try that leads to Heaven,
Happiness is the Lord.

The lyrics of this song tells it all.

Just because of that one friend

I sometimes hate  FRIENDSHIP.
It makes me sad, makes me lonely.
Makes me feel rejected, alone.
It leaves me hanging over an expectation.
It makes me feel disturbed and angry.
When in reality, I really mustn't be.
Friendship must be a two-way street.
One gives, one takes.
But I don't why.
Cause sometimes the other way is cut..
The one that gives will always be
the one to give.
And the one who takes will always be
the one who just takes.
Still not sure,
If that what makes me unhappy.
Or maybe, just maybe..
this FRIENDSHIP I have
is really not meant for me.

Softball

If you are you one of those students who would choose Softball for their Physical Education class but do not know how to play or even the rules and objectives of the game, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Haha.

Well, I am a Softball student. I chose softball cause most people say that it's easier than Soccer. (Actually, there are only two options this semester for P.E.) Although, honestly I really do not know how to play this.

On the first day of class, the PE Professor started already his lecture. And because I was late, I missed the part where he told the objectives of the game. I do not know anyone in the class, not even a single one. So I got no one to ask or talk to. Until the day we already started playing at the field, I do not know anything. Well, maybe I know the theories, the terms and names of the equipment but more than that, I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY.

We already played many times but still until now, I only know little compared to my other classmates who knows when to run, where to run, when to hit the ball, where to throw the ball. AAARRRGGGHHH. It was hard to understand, specially if it's your first time. But then, thanks to classmates who today, are already friends.

Enough of me now. So, here are some things I have searched, I have learned from the lectures and most especially while playing. If I missed an important thing or if I got to mention any mistake, please let me know. :)

Objectives of the game:
-To score the most runs. A run is scored when a player from the batting team advances around all four bases, touching it every turn, without being 'out' by the field team.

Teams:
-Must have nine players to start or to continue the game.

Field:
-Shouldn't be elevated. A grassy field.
-It is sometimes called the diamond.
-Distances between base paths is 60 ft.
-Pitching distance from pitching rubber to home plate is 40 ft.
-In the middle of the field is the mound is where the pitcher stands and pitches the ball to batter.
-The corners are called first base, second base, third base. While the start and end base is the Home.

There are seven innings. A half inning means a portion of an inning in which one team is at bat and the other team in the field, and one team makes three outs.

Equipment:
-Softball gloves.
-Softball -11 to 12 inches in circumference.
-Softball bats.
-Helmet and chest protector for safety -used by catcher.

Field Positions:
-Pitcher: Throws the ball to the catcher, past the batter, in attempt to prevent it from being hit.
-Catcher: Determines what pitch will be thrown, receives the ball and attempts to prevent runners from advancing.
-Infielders: First Base, Second Base, Third Base, Short Stop: Field balls that are hit in the infield.
-Outfielders: Left Field, Center Field, Right Field: Field balls that are hit in the outfield, as well as provide a back-up for balls that get past the infielders.

Strike:
a. Batter swings at pitched ball and misses.
b. Pitched ball is delivered over home plate between the knees and the shoulders of the batter.
c. Fly ball-goes out and not caught.

Ball:
a. Pitch between knees and shoulders but batter doesn't swing.
b. Pitcher goes through  preliminary motions of pitching but fails to deliver the ball.

Some Terms:
a. Base hit: hit made by a batter which permits him to safely reach one of the bases without causing a teammate to be forced out.
b. Home run: hit which enables the batter to run all four bases and score a run; a ball which is batted over a fence 200 feet from home plate.
c. Foul ball: ball which settles or is touched by a fielder outside the base line between home and third, or between home and first base, or one which lands outside of the base lines beyond  first or third base.
d. Fair ball: batted ball which settles or is touched by a fielder between home and third, or between home and first base, or one which lands inside or within the base lines beyond  first or third base.
eBall: This is the term for a pitch that the umpire determines has crossed the plate outside of the strike zone.
f. Walk: A pitcher is permitted 3 balls for each batter; when the umpire determines that the pitcher has thrown four balls to a single batter in one at bat, the batter earns a walk, becoming a base runner eligible to advance to first base. a walk is also referred to as earning a "base on balls".
g. Base on Balls: a turn at bat in which the batter is automatically  awarded first base when the pitcher delivers four pitches which are outside the strike zone.

THERE. I know this is few but hope it can help you somehow.
It would be really better if you can watch a real game cause you can really learn by watching. It's my loss that I am not fond of watching outdoor games that's why I am really poor with games like this.
Anyway, be physically healthy and sporty!
Practice makes perfect.
Be safe and have fun. :)

Standards of Efficiency

I was browsing my giant notebook to take a look where I have stopped writing when I saw this "note to self." I am currently reading Messages to Young People by Ellen G. White. This was a response to a chapter that I have read:
I want to be a youth that is in part of God’s service. I may have intelligence but without the sanctified abilities everything will be a loss; and even the people around me will be affected.
In order to be called a youth that all heavens is waiting to work, I must be at all costs, and with the sure help of my God, must confess the faithfulness I have. I must be a living testimony – to God and to His people, a youth that is expected to impart the light and knowledge that this generation has. I must consecrate my mind and heart to God’s service, to reach a high standard of efficiency and usefulness.
I do not want to be a youth that would be a criminal of betrayal to God. I don’t want to be called a failure for the work of humanity. I must not put in my mind all that are cheap and not useful. Non-sense and amusement-loving behaviours should be discarded. I must not imperil other people’s souls. Being a servant of sin, careless, reckless, and foolish – these must not be me. Instead, the talents that God has given me must be surrendered and must only be used of the glory of God. I am here in the world with hope that I can live happily for eternity because Christ has shed his own blood just to save me. He accepted the cup the Heavenly Father had made Him passed on. I must not make Christ feel sad because of my work; instead, I must always remember the endurance He has gone through, His eternal love for me, that I might be qualified for His service.
I have a life distinct from others, an experience different and unique. God desires for me that my praises shall ascend to Him, marked with my own individuality.

A kook

Today is so plain.
It's Friday. I have no classes, no student convocation, no major's forum.
I spent my whole day inside the room.
Nothing much to do.
The laptop's on since 9:00 am this morning and I think I'll turn this off later in the evening before going to church.

And here is vanity.
Credits to Picnik. :)

Extraordinary with Him

Day 48: Your life story in three words.

Feb 15, 2012

Heart's Day still

February 14 story is not yet done. I just never thought and expected that someone will really do an effort that I didn't mind what he did starting yesterday morning.

Feb 14, 5:00 am. I woke up early to eat at the cafeteria. I went to my locker and found a folded paper in the handle of the door. I took the paper and checked what was written inside.
"Good morning Dimple! Happy Valentine's! <3"
Because I was still dizzy and thought that it was just a simple and common greeting for that day, I ignored it and continued  my usual day. After morning classes, I didn't went back to the dormitory at lunch cause I still had to finish something in the library so I just went home (the dormitory) late. It was past 6:00 in the evening. I entered the room amazed with the fragrance. The room smelt flowers - Stargazers and Roses. Of course, the kilig factor and teases were there for my roommates not knowing that in my bed, I also found three white roses. I already had someone in mind and I was right. It was him, the one who sent the morning greeting. The same paper was there except the "Good morning" was teared and a "Good afternoon"  has been replaced. I laughed when I saw the same paper and even thought to myself, "He should have written the message to another paper." I felt so mean. Haha.
Anyway, as to what I have mentioned in my previous blog, I was glad to receive the roses.
And later that evening, my another roommate came with this paper bag in her hand. Of course, I still thought it was hers cause she went on a date, perhaps inside were gifts or whatsoever. When suddenly she shrieked and handed me the paper bag. I looked at her shocked, with a big question mark in my face. ????? HAHA.
"What's this Ate?"
"Take a look and thank me ha! Because of me you have that."
I peeked inside the bag and found CHOCOLATES! As in many.
Another letter was there. And this time it's already in a stationary paper. I read it and he told me that he wished he had made me happy that day - a letter in the morning, roses in the afternoon, and chocolates in the evening.
Now I feel that I am really getting old. I only see this kind of things back when I was in elementary and high school. But I was really glad, of course. Who wouldn't? It was really nice of him to do those efforts.

The size that fits all

Day 46: What makes you smile?

There are so many things that make me smile. :D
-Friendship.
-Family.
-Food.
-Happy ending stories.
-Fulfilled wishes.
-Answered prayers.
-Gentle Breeze.
-Children singing for God.
-Favorite music.
-Comment in my blog.
-Appreciation.
-Compliments.
-Greetings.
-Old pictures.
-Unforgettable memories.
-A Clean room.
-Stars in the night.
-Seeing your crush.
-Good grades.
-Confidence.
-New haircut.
-New clothes.
-Remembering God's promises.
-Sabbath.
-A finished book.
-A finished story.
-Doing good for others.
-Inspiration.
-Writing this.
-and many more. :)
It's so easy to smile. But if you smiled even when nobody's around, that is something. :)

Who's Valentine?

Haha. Demanding pa. Anywaaaaay, natuwa naman ako kahit konti. Nagfeeling dalaga.

A letter to self

Day 41: Write a letter to yourself stating all the things you love about yourself.

Dearest Jana,

Kamusta ka na ba? Tagal kong di nakasulat sayo simula nung tinago mo yung matabang notebook mo.
Minsan talaga may advantage yang pagiging who cares mo.
Di ka talaga ganun kagaling pero as long you’re using it for God’s glory, you are the best in His eyes.
Ikaw kaya yan. Masaya ako para sayo dahil ganyan ka. Wag ka magbabago.
I know, you are really a frustrated writer, a frustrated sanguine, and a frustrated musician. Wag ka na mafrustrate, papanget ka eh. Maganda ka, tototo yun.

Yourself,
Jana

features

Day 40: What are features you get complimented on a lot.

If physical features, they say they like the small hollow in my left cheek when I smile. Most of acquaintances and friends tell me that it’s cute. Sana dimple nalang ako. Haha.  Another feature that most people notice in me especially when I am with my sister is our nose. Some tell us we look like Indians, others Turkish. Baka bumbay, 5-6! HAHA. Anyway, just always smile guys!

Feb 5, 2012

Friends

Day 36: What you think about your friends?

My first work was erased. T_T
Anyway, I’ll just summarize. No more explanations.
Elementary friends were competitions.
High school friends were the closest.
Church mates are my brothers and sisters in Christ.
College friends are just simply friends.
SUBO are my soul sisters.
Roommates are my elder sister.

DISTINCT IN THE WILDERNESS part 2

"There is no limit to the usefulness of the one, who putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon His heart, and lives a life wholly consecrated to God." ~Ellen G. White, Southern Watchman, Aug. 1, 1905
1 Corinthians 10:8
"We should not commit  sexual immorality, as some of them did - and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died."sexual immorality - pornography
Background:
In the book of Numbers, chapter 21-24, Israel had a series of Victories - won battles, conqured nations etc..
But in Numbers 25:1 - "While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women..."
-Any God iniatied story ends well but in here, God was not in the picture.
-Remained/Staying
-Began
-Sexual Immorality/harlotry
Shittim was a beautiful valley.
"agreeable retreat" + "so rich in natural advantages"  +  "defiled by the inhabitants"     ~Patriarchs and Prophets p. 453
"The most grievous things we made are in times of prosperity."
Prosperity - a very slippery background.
History of Moabites:
Genesis 19: 36-37 "So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their faither. The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab; he is the father of the Moabites of today."
-they learned the practice in Sodom
"The past has a strong bearing in the present and a lasting influence in the future."
"You never now what choice you make today can bring about tomorrow."
"Great falls start little."
Success leads to prosperity, Prosperity leads to Ease, Ease leads to Idleness, Idleness attracts temptation and sin.
Numbers 25:2
Zimri - Simeonite Prince
Cozbi - Midianite Princess
Zimri and Phineas, one wicked, one righteous, they are like water and oil.                           "Can be in the same part but can never  mingle."
A jobless person was hired to be a toilet cleaner. At first he was very disgusted that at lunch, he moved far away just to eat. But some weeks after, he already became comfortable that he had been able to eat lunch inside the toilet.
"Spiritual death is a long, slow, imperceptible process."
To be distinct in God's eyes is to have spiritual audacity.
Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." - Shows that Christianity is at war, and this war is for real.
To be distinct in choosing  Christ marks our entrance on God's side in the Great Cosmic Conflict.
Revelation 12:7-8 "And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven."
-War started in heaven, War is between Christ and Satan, It extends to the followers. There is no neutral stand. JESUS WON THE FIRST PART.
To be distinct in choosing Christ officially marks our move from neutrality to partiality in the Great Cosmic Conflict.
Revelation 12:9, 11 "The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. 11, They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death."
-Transferred to earth and humanity, Satan had a mighty army, CHRIST WON THE SECOND ROUND.
JESUS IS THE WINNER.
To be distinct in God's eyes is to confide not in ourselves but in Christ's blood and His word.
To be distinct in God's eyes is to have the spiritual audacity to say NO to sin and YES to righteousness.
Who won in heaven? Jesus Christ.
Who won in earth? Jesus Christ.
Who will win in you heart?
Jesus doesn't want a part of our hearts, he wants to be the manager of our it. It woud happen only if we allow Him.

DISTINCT IN HARDSHIPS

1 Chronicles 4:10
"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain". And God granted his request."
Background:
Chronicles 1 - long list of names (Genealogy)
Why? Genealogy helps us to know where we came from, who we are, why we are, and where we are going.
origins + identity+purpose+destiny
Knowing your history help make you distinct.
EVOLUTIONISTS vs CREATIONISTS
"It's not about the material but it's all about the originator.
To be distinct is to know your heavenly origins and live by that knowledge.
Atheism - Belief that God does not exist.
Deism - Belief that God exists, God created the world but does not intervenes to it anymore.
Creationism - Belief that God exists, God created and that He intervenes.
"Every act of life is a revelation of character." Patriarchs and Prophets p.362
"A prayerless person is not a Christian." -Ellen G. White
Flashlight kind of faith: Sometimes you are turned on, sometimes off.
To be distinct is to choose your belief on origins and live by that faith.
If you will take a look in 1 Chronicles 4:1-8 you can read a very long list of names.
But in 1 Chronicles 4:9 the writes paused. He cannot continue without writing something about this person.
Jabez was distinct.
The name Jabez means 'pain bearer'. His mother maybe experienced pain different from the siblings of Jabez- excruciating pain that he named his son 'pain bearer'.
The name brought psychological trauma to Jabez. He thought that he will always bring pain because of this name.
There are a lot of Jabez around us - school, work, etc. They looked accomplished outside but grieved in the inside.
1 Chronicles 4:10a
"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain".-there are situations in life where Atheism/Deism cannot help us, situations where we hit hard rock bottom.
Bottom rock situations doesn't make us distinct but thay reveal the distinct.
Jabez, out of the situation he is going through, cried out to the Lord:
-God's blessing
-Limit enlargement
-God's hand with him
-Protection from evil
1 Chronicles 4:10b
"...And God granted his request."
Daniel 2:28 - "There is a God in heaven."
Daniel 3:17- "Our God is able to deliver us."
Job 19:25- "I know that my Redeemer lives."
To the distinct, hardships are not threats but opportunities to glorify the name of their God.
To be distinct is to face life's challenges with Christ.

A quote

Day 35: Words you live by, why do you like them.
Live today like it's already your last day.
The quote tells it all ~~
Do your best and there'll be no regrets.
Just happiness. :)

Cancer

Day 34: Your horoscope for today and whether you think it’s accurate.

Today is February third. I don't have newspapers to read horoscope and I don't believe that my fate relies in Astrology.
I thought of Mr. Google. .
CANCER (June 22 - July 23):
The only thing that might hold you back over the next 24 hours is if you let negative thoughts take over. Tell yourself that all things are possible for those who believe – and those who make a serious effort.
I think it's more like a general advice. But it's accurate for me. Even if today's March or today's tomorrow or today's yesterday.

I just cannot tell who

Day 33: Someone who really hurt you.

Words can’t tell but songs can;
Feelings are empty but memories aren't
Promises are broken but tears still shed
Wounds are healed but scars bring you here

Years are gone, time’s just not enough
Regrets really are late, who are you to wait.
Something was dying inside of me.
Never knew what was it or where it was

Until the day my senses came back to me:
I saw you pulling the trigger
While the gun was pointed at me.

Sometimes, being emotional is good.

Feb 2, 2012

rich? attractive?

Day 32: Whether you’d rather marry someone who’s rich but ugly, or poor but attractive

Pagdating sa ganyan, maging praktikal! Yung gwapo na kahit mahirap. HAHAHA.
If I would choose and ask God for someone who will be by my side for the rest of my temporary life, I would choose that someone who is converted to Christ. Character is the most important.
HAHA.

Distinct in the Wilderness part 1

Second day, morning message notes.
"There is no limit to the usefulness of the one, who putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart, and lives a life wholly consecrated to God." ~Ellen G. White, Southern Watchman, Aug 1, 1905
1 Corinthians 10:7
"Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry."
From Genesis up to Exodus, Exodus to Daniel, Ezra to Matthew, until from Acts to Revelation are Bible stories where things seems to start well but because of disobedience resulted to disaster.
Exodus 25:8
"Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them."
It is always God's desire to be with His people.
He tried it with Adam, Noah, Abraham, but failed. But still, always longs to be with us.
"God wants you, God wants me."
GOD'S WAY TO FREEDOM:
Egypt ---> Wilderness ---> Canaan
1 Corinthians 10:1-4
"For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ."
A pictorial experience with God is good, but not enough to be distinct in God's eyes.
"To be distinct, we must learn from the mistakes of our forefathers and do better."Too many people repeat the mistakes of our predecessors.
1 Corinthians 10:7
Whenever God is the beginning, be sure to expect a splendid ending. If not, disaster will surely fall.
Do not be fooled; we can be distinct either with good or evil.
Exodus 32:1
"When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming...."-INITIATOR: People
Some verses where the initiator is man and with the word 'saw': ( I wrote only few.)
  • Genesis 3:1 - "Eve saw..."
  • Genesis 6:1 - "The sons of God saw..."
"Sightseeing can be very dangerous."
By beholding we are changed, what are you beholding?
Exodus 32:1
"When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down form the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
-They had come to rely upon Moses to sustain their faith. ~Patriarchs and Prophets p.315
Many people do not live their faith alone. They depend it to other people.
Exodus 32:2-6
6...."people sat down to eat, drink and rose up to play.."-the same as 1 Corinthians 10:7
Isaraelites wanted the best of the Spiritual and of the world. But Matthew 6:33 says to us..
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."A very good illustration would be with the sun and the shadow:
If I face the sun, my shadow will follow me. But if I turn my back from the sun, I will follow my shadow.
The same with God. If I follow God first - seek Him first in anything and in everything, all these things will just follow me. But if I turn my back from Him, these worldly things I will follow.
Exodus 32:8
"They have been quick to turn away form what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of Egypt.'
Speak what you want to speak, Do what you want to do. But remember, judgment day shall come.
Exodus 32:17
"When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, "There is the sound of war in the camp."-The closer to God, the closer to truth.
Exodus 32:19
"When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands...."
Altar, Calf, People dancing.. - Israelites' idolatry
Stage, Idol, People dancing - rock concert.
Let the whole world go their way but BE DISTINCT and stay with GOD.
GOD'S WAY TO FREEDOM:
Calvary ---> History ---> Heaven
History - OUR own wilderness, the distinct us, separated from the world, God by our side.

My Social Life

Day 31: A bit about your social life outside blogging world.

I admit I am not that really a social person.
I only talk/converse with people who approaches me except when a person is a close friend.
But well, here's a bit of my social life:
When I'm at the dorm, I talk to room mates, dorm mates.
In the classroom, I talk to classmates. I seldom speak with the teacher.
Outside the classroom, I talk to friends and acquaintances.
I still greet people I know - Hi's, Hello's, How are you's.
I go to mall seldom with friends, usually alone, but always with family.
I don't like parties. I'm not a party-person.
You'll find me active at the local church.
I like campings, hikings, seminars, concerts, prayer meetings, and retreats.
I love social nights at church.
I play sports but seldom watch. I joke. Of course I laugh.
Most of my vacant time I spend at the library doing assignments, reviewing, reading books.
During my ordinary weekdays, if the satellite would detect me or if the Google map can find the me and when someone started searching for me, he'll find me:
-walking alone
-doing things on my own
-in my bed, doing school works or maybe sleeping or busy at the laptop
-with 2 or 3 friends eating at the cafeteria.
-SO PLAIN.
Oh well, that is my social life I think so.
Maybe some that I have mentioned are not a part of the social aspect, please pardon me. I am not really good with socializing.
But I have plenty of friends. Girlfriends, boyfriends, dogfriends, catfriends, treefriends...

Distinct by Nature

The afternoon message notes:
2 Kings 4:9
"She said to her husband, "I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God."
ELISHA-the name's meaning is "God is Salvation."
-was from a wealthy, God-fearing family.
-called by God to succeed Elijah as a prophet.
"A name, a family, and a calling are good but not enough to be distinct in God's eyes."
More about Elisha:
-a hard worker
-a potential leader
-a ready servant
-has a gentle and quiet spirit
-energetic and steadfast
-has integrity and fidelity
"A good character is good but not enough to be distinct in God's eyes."
2 Kings 13:21
"Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man's body into Elisha's tomb. When the body touched Elisha's bones, the man came to life and stood up on  his feet."
Elisha has many miracles and achievements done that even he was already dead, a man already dead came back to life when it touched Elisha's bones.
Some achievements/miracles he has done: ( researched.)
-brought comfort and courage to people in distress.
-oil in the vessel that did not ran out.
-restored the dead child Habakkuk to life.
-sustained the prophets.
-used by God to let King Naaman believe that Elisha's God can heal the sick even the leprosy.
-made a wooden axe float in the surface of the water.
-and many more.
"Achievements are good but not enough to be distinct in God's eyes."
Elisha's secret :
2 Kings 4:8-10
..."I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God."
Elisha's secret was his holiness. Not his name, not his family, not his calling, not his character, not his achievements. It was his holiness.
  • Can your parents tell their friends/colleagues that their son/daughter is a holy child of God?
  • Can your classmates or friend tell that you are a holy man of God?
The Secret behind Elisha's Holiness:
2 Kings 2:15
"The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, "The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha's". And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him."
-indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
God wants to give us the greatest things in life but we always ask for the little things that we overlook the most important one.
If we want to be distinct, we must ask for the Holy Spirit.
2 Kings 2:9
"When they had crossed , Elijah said to Elisha, "Tell me what can I do for you?". "Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit."
Elisha's life was a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led life.
Elisha's holiness was practical.
To be distinct is not a theory. It is a practical way of living.
Elisha's holiness was made private and public.
Distinctiveness can be made manifested in little things.
"every act of life is a revelation of character." Patriarchs and Prophets p. 362
To be distinct? Must be holy. How to be holy? Presence of the Holy Spirit. How to have the Holy Spirit? Ask, Pray for it.
Christians must be marching to Zion.
BE HOLY, BE DISTINCT.
